Racism Limits Student Success By Causing Violence
Racism ââ¬Å"Racism, belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one s own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the othersâ⬠(Merriam Webster Dictionary 2015). Racism limits student success by causing violence; racism limits students by creating judgement,causing depression, and creating a world wide conflict stimulates hate and anger between students;racism forms a disconnection between races, and causes a ,horrible separation between communities. As stated in ââ¬Å"The Historical Origins and Development of Racism,â⬠by George M. Fredrickson, â⬠Racism exists when one ethnic group or historical collectivity dominates, excludes, or seeks to eliminate another on the basis of difference that it believes are hereditary and unalterableâ⬠(Fredrickson 2003). Racism began when Europeans came into contact with dark pigmented people, known as Africans. Europeans did not like coming into to contact with these dark pigmented people, they began to make judgements against them. Europeans saw Africans as heathens, slave owners sometimes interpreted a passage from the Bible, in the book of Genesis for their justification.
